June 16, 2009
Driving down Route 1, Mary saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time ever on June 15, 2009 at 1:16 pm.....a special moment in time! Kenny saw it 25 years ago while on a business trip for his Company. We arrived at Santa Cruz at 1:26 pm....it is 64 degrees and sunny. We continued on, arriving in camp site at 2:10pm. After setting up,we rode bikes, returned to rest, had dinner, and ended our day with a walk to the coast dunes to see the sunset. Just beyond sits a lighthouse. Another gorgeous sunset by the "Master Painter" our Lord and Saviour. Second day, June 16, found Ken walking the shore to take in the coastline at morning tide, and capture more of it's beauty on film. The combination of farmland, mountain vistas, rocky coastline, dunes, sandy beaches, and cool, wooded mountain roads offers a world of beauty and serenity. The temperature has been comfortable at 64 to low 70's and partly sunny. We ended the day with a 70 mile one way bike trip to San Hosea (silicon valley) located across the mountain. The route we took was quite possibly more challenging then any mountain road we have traveled to date! Definition: Roller Coaster! Very exciting!
Returned home at 5:00 pm, had dinner, updated our Blog, retired for the evening.
We continue to thank our good Lord for safe travels, and all the beauty He has bestowed upon this great land.
June 17, after a morning of relaxation, we rode up coastal highway to do some sightseeing and stopped at Pigeon Point Lighthouse. It was a cloudy day and this cloudiness is known locally as June Gloom.
