Memphis, TN

June 5, 2009
Wednesday, day 3 of our trip West.
Up at 5:30 AM....showers....breakfast. With a perfect temperature and winds, we mounted our Harley at 9:15 AM and headed for Memphis' Peabody Hotel to see the "Marching Ducks"...a 75 year old tradition where Mallard ducks leave their Duck Palace atop the hotel and head, by elevator and led by the Duckmaster, for the main lobby. There they march the red carpet, that was laid down for them, to swim in the fountain until 5 PM. Very unique.
Left hotel and arrived at Graceland at 12:00 noon, had lunch at the Rock & Roll Cafe, then began out guided tour of the home and grounds where Elvis lived and loved until his death in 1977. He bought the estate in 1957 for $100,000.00.
We ended our tour with a walk through one of his several private jets the "Lisa Marie". His many awards plus numerous gold and platinum albums that he earned in his short life of 42 years awed us. Through his love of music, family, friends, and all mankind, at times, one could feel his presence in the home.
