Yellowstone NP

July 4, 2009
Saturday, day 32 of our trip, found us up early at 5:30 am. The temperature is a cool 44 degrees and cloudy. Joining Gene and Phyl, we left for Yellowstone at 7:00 am and entered into the west entrance. Yellowstone was the world's first national park. It is surrounded by wildlife, crystal lakes and flowing rivers and streams. Driving to and from this area of Yellowstone, we were greeted by buffalo, mountain goats, and deer. As we walked through Norris Geyser Basin, and Monument Geyser Basin, we were surrounded by many steam vents, hot springs and geysers. A long "boardwalk" guided us past many beautiful aqua colored pools of boiling water, which reach from 4 to 10 miles deep within the earth. Phyl and I got a brief glimpse of what appeared to be a wolf loping through a nearby forest. We also were captivated by the rushing Lamar River rapids. We ended our day with a visit to the town of West Yellowstone, MT where we enjoyed a colorful display of fireworks.
The amazing geyser basins, beautiful lakes, rapids, and streams are testaments to God's power and creativity. We continue to thank Him for traveling mercies, and of course, this great nation He has given us.
